Shubman Gill scored history in England, scoring a double century and century in a single Test, reached equal to Gavaskar

New Delhi. Shubman Gill has created history by scoring a century in the second innings after scoring a double century in the first innings. Gill scored a brilliant century in the second innings on the fourth day of the second Test match against England. Along with this, Gill also equaled the unique record of veteran Sunil Gavaskar. Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar had scored a double century and century in a Test match for India. This has happened after 54 years when an Indian batsman has a double century and century in a Test match.

Shubman Gill has hit 17 centuries in international cricket at the age of 25. In this list, Sachin Tendulkar is at number one, who scored 40 international centuries at the age of twenty five while Virat Kohli scored 26 centuries. Gill as an Indian captain is the third player to score a century in both innings of one Test. Earlier, Sunil Gavaskar made Kolkata against West Indies in 1978 and Virat Kohli in Adelaide against Australia in 2014. After Gavaskar and Kohli, now Gill has added his name to this list.
