Shubman Gill Scores Total 430 Runs in Edgbaston Test: Shubman Gill scored a total of 430 runs during the Birmingham Test. He scored many records in the first innings and 161 runs in the second.
Shubman Gill is in the best form of his career and is performing brilliantly for India in Test cricket. Ever since the 25 -year -old player of Punjab has taken over as the new Test captain of India, he has been scoring continuously and breaking the records.
After scoring a brilliant 147 runs in the first innings of Leeds Test (20-24 June), Gill scored an excellent 269 runs in the first innings of the second Test in Edgbaston. This innings became the biggest personal score made by an Indian captain in Test cricket.
On Saturday (July 5), Gill scored his third century in four innings as captain. With this century, Gill equaled Virat Kohli’s world record in which he scored three centuries in the first two Tests as captain. Gill also became the first Indian batsman to score more than 400 runs in a Test match in Test history.
He achieved this achievement by scoring 131 runs in the second innings. He scored a total of 430 runs in the match. With this, he broke the long -standing Indian record of Sunil Gavaskar’s 344 runs and became the fifth batsman to score 400 or more runs in a Test in Gill Test history.
Gill’s 430 -run match is now the biggest score made by any foreign batsman in Test cricket. He broke the record of 426 runs of former Australian captain Mark Taylor against Pakistan in 1998.
Gill also became the first batsman to score a double century and more than 150 runs in a single match in Test history. Apart from this, he is the second batsman to score at least 150 runs in both innings after Allen border.
Shubman Gill’s brilliant 161 -run innings brought India to 427/6 in the second innings and declared the innings. India scored these runs after a huge score of 587 runs in the first innings. Due to this, India’s total score was 1014 runs in Edgbaston Test. This is the first time India has crossed the 1000 -run mark in a single match. With this, India became only sixth team to score 1000 or more runs in Test matches.
