Shubman Gill interviewed for the first time after becoming a Test captain.
Team India Test captain Shubman Gill said that he is very excited for the England series. He told in an interview to former cricketer Dinesh Karthik that Virat Bhai’s Test captaincy taught a lot. Looking at the fitness of Jassi Bhai, he will decide in which matches he has to give rest.

Karthik- What is your vision for the Indian Test team? Shubman- Apart from winning the trophy, I would like to create a culture in Team India, where all the players are happy. Stay secure about their place in all the teams, I know that the squad has fewer players in place, but I still managed to convey the message to the players that if they are in the team, then it will be a good achievement for me.
Karthik- When you were made a Test captain, what was the atmosphere in the family? Shubman- The family members never thought that I would become the captain of the Test team. I myself dreamed of playing Tests only for Team India in my childhood. I always thought of winning the team with my performance. After becoming the captain, Papa called me, we had a long conversation, he was very happy with this decision.

Karthik- What do you expect from yourself as captain? Shubman- Gautam Bhai and Ajit sir just told that I have to focus only on expressing myself as captain. The selection committee did not put much pressure, but after becoming a captain, I definitely have some expectations from myself, which I want to fulfill with Team India.
Karthik-IPL played with coach Nehra, now coach will play with Gambhir. What is the difference between coaching of both? Shubman- The feeling of playing with Ashu Pa (Ashish Nehra) is very fun. On the other hand, Gautam Bhai is very clear about his decisions. They already tell the players what is expected from them. Gautam Bhai focus more on the players’ mindset.
Team India will play the first series in the leadership of Shubman Gill and Gautam Gambhir.
Karthik- You played Abhishek Sharma, Prithvi Shaw, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya from Junior Cricket. What did you learn from them? Shubman- I liked his proactiveness under the captaincy of Virat Bhai. They think a lot ahead about their field position. While talking to the bowlers, he kept asking them what kind of fielding they need. I also liked Rohit Bhai’s strategy very much.
Karthik- Jaspreet Bumrah will play only 3 Tests, what is the plan about him? Shubman- Looking at the results of the series, we will decide how much workload Jassi Bhai (Bumrah) will have to give. There is also a possibility of rain in some matches, during that time they will also be given rest. So at the moment we did not fix which 3 matches they would play.
Keeping in mind the fitness, Jasprit Bumrah will be able to play only 3 Tests in England.
Karthik- What do you think about the youth team? Shubman- I am very excited. When I made my debut, most of the players were experienced, now I have become captain, so many young players became part of the team. These young players will depend on the team 10-12 years and it is easier to work with the team of young players.
