The atmosphere in Congress is hot these days. After a comment by party president Mallikarjun Kharge, the war between senior leader Shashi Tharoor and other leaders of the party has come to the fore. The controversy with the praise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of Tharoor has now turned into a ‘bird fight’ battle on social media.
In fact, Congress President Kharge praised Tharoor’s English and ‘Audance’ a day earlier and said that this is the reason that Tharoor is a member of the Congress Working Committee. This statement was seen as a direct comment on Tharoor. This thing of Kharge gave an open platform to those leaders of the party who were already angry with Tharoor’s statements.

Outrage in party on Modi’s praise
In a press conference on Wednesday, when Kharge was questioned on the praise of Prime Minister Modi of Tharoor, he said, “When Operation Sindhu, I was in Gulbarga. I clearly said that we are with the government. The nation is with the government. The nation was first, the party later but some people need Modi first. What should I say?”
This was the first time that the top leadership of the Congress publicly expressed displeasure over Tharoor. Earlier, Tharoor wrote an article praising Modi’s energy and strategy on ‘Operation Sindhu’, which raised voices of protest inside the party. At that time Tharoor was called by some leaders even the ‘brand ambassador’ of BJP.
Birds vs Hunter: Sarcasm on social media
Shashi Tharoor shared a picture of a sparrow on the social media platform x and wrote, “Don’t Ask permission to fly.” He said that a bird does not need permission to fly in the sky. Tharoor is being seen as a response to the Congress President’s comment.
In response, Rahul Gandhi’s close and MP Manikam Tagore posted a picture of many hunter birds on X, on which it was written, “Picture birds – freedom – freedom is not free, especially when hunters fly in patriotic wings.” The gesture of this sarcasm was towards Tharoor, which has been seen continuously taking a soft attitude towards Prime Minister Modi.

Confusion about Tharoor in Congress
A few weeks ago in Kerala, Tharoor expressed his desire to meet the party leadership, so that the differences could be resolved, but the recent development seems to have deepened. According to party sources, Tharoor has been given a long rope till now and it is believed that he can move in some other direction, the party will not need to remove them.
BJP’s eye
The BJP is keeping a ‘hunter eye’ on this development and is looking at this open controversy among the party leaders as a political benefit. Overall, the growing sourness between Congress and Tharoor has now become public, and social media has become its new battlefield.
