The second death died on Sunday (July 13, 2025) in the Nipah virus in Palakkad district of Kerala. When the sample was investigated after the death, the reason came to light. A total of 675 people have come to the state so far in the grip of Nipah virus. The most of these Nipah virus patients have been found in Palakkad district, Kerala Health Minister Visa George gave this information.

Patient dies during treatment

According to him, 210 patients have been found in Malappuram, Kerala, 347 in Palakkad, 115 in Kozhikode, 2 in Ernakulam and 1 in Thrissur. A 50 -year -old man started having trouble breathing in the Mannarkad area of Palakkad and died during treatment in the hospital. It was found in the investigation that the person was suffering from Nipah infection. Earlier in Kerala, the first death occurred in Malappuram due to the grip of Nipah virus.

The Health Department said that currently a patient of Malappuram suffering from this virus is undergoing treatment in ICU. At the same time, 12 patients have been kept in the isolation ward in Palakkad and 5 patients have also been cured.

High alert in these 6 districts of Kerala

After the deaths due to Nipah virus, high alerts have been declared in 6 districts of Kerala, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kannur and Wayanad and the health department is pushing the process of rapid investigation. Now wearing masks in Malappuram, Kerala has been made mandatory again. The health department has advised to avoid congested places in hospitals. At the same time, an order has been issued to give information to the affected states on getting symptoms of fever and encephalitis.

What is this Nipah viral?

According to the WHO i.e. the World Health Organization, Nipah is a Juneotic disease, which spreads from animals to humans and then humans. A total of 46 people came in contact with 2 people who lost their lives with Nipah virus and these 46 people came in contact with 543 people, which caused it to spread viral rapidly.
