Southport shootout: Three killed in firing in North Carolina of US, suspected arrested


On Saturday (September 27, 2025) night at Southport in North Carolina, USA, a shooter abused people standing in the queue outside the restaurant. At least three people have died in this firing and many others have also been injured. At the same time, the shooter who carried out this firing has been identified as Nigel Max Age.

According to local time, the incident occurred at around 9:30 pm on the banks of Southport, which is located about 30 miles (48 km) south of Wilmington. It is being told that the suspect Nigel Max Edge, who carried out the incident, came from a boat and started firing at many restaurants on the shore. After this, he escaped from the spot.

About half an hour after the incident, the suspect was seen by the US Coast Guard, when he was pulling his boat from a public ramp in Oak Island. He was immediately arrested by the US Coast Guard and handed over to the Southport Police.

  • The report quoted by court documents on Sunday (September 28, 2025) said that Nigel Max Edge has been charged with three charges of first degree murder and five allegations of attempt to murder. According to the jail records, the accused is currently kept in custody without bail.
  • Southport Police Chief Tod Koring said, ‘Nearly six people injured in the shootout are still inlated. Earlier, eight people were reported injured. The death of three people has been confirmed. Although the reason for the attack has not been revealed yet, the police chief has assured the local people that the violence is over now.
  • The identity of the people killed and injured in the incident has not been made public till the morning (local time) on Sunday (September 28).
  • The Oak Island administration said in its statement, ‘American Coast Guard personnel have taken into custody the suspect who was identified as a shooter.
