Seven people have been arrested by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) in a major action on the Indo-Nepal border in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. All these people have been caught with a banned frequency hoping electronic walkie-talkie set while returning to India from Nepal. The technology of the walkie-talkie set recovered from them is so advanced that the frequency changes repeatedly during the conversation. This makes it very difficult to intercept any call.
SSB Commandant Ganga Singh Udawat said that the arrest was made on the Rupidiha border on the evening of June 27. When the 42nd Battalion team stopped an SUV entering India from Nepal for investigation, five banned walkie-talkie sets were recovered from seven people in it. The recovery of this high -tech communication equipment alerted the security agencies. Many of the arrested accused are residents of different districts of Maharashtra and UP.
Suspects in touch with ISI Funded Islamic Union
These include Mohammed Muslims of Pune, Bilal Abdul Rahman Sheikh, Munir Yusuf Sheikh, Temeshwar Bhondve of Thane, Achlesh Kumar of Bijnor, Shankar Pandey of Kushinagar and Chhangur Ahmed of Bahraich. All of them have been arrested and sent to jail. Investigation has revealed that the arrested people were in touch with an organization called Islamic Union in Nepal. The organization allegedly receive funding from Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI.

In Nepal, these people met a person named Naseem Sheikh, who is associated with the Islamic Union. All the accused stayed at his house one night. The commandant said that Mohammad Muslim is originally from Matera area of ​​Bahraich. About 20 years ago, he had settled in Pune in connection with business. On June 24, he came to Bahraich for his daughter’s wedding. After this, on 26 June, he went to Nepal with his six colleagues, from where he returned.
Police registered a case under these sections
In the interrogation of the police, all these people could not give any satisfactory answer to the walkie-talkie. Along with this, no concrete reason for his visit to Nepal was also found. This is the reason that the SSB immediately assumed it as a serious matter related to national security and handed over to the local police. The police have registered a case on SSB’s Tahrir under Telecom Act 2023, Indian Telegraph Act 1885 and Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933.

All the accused have been sent to jail in judicial custody. The matter is being investigated in coordination with various security agencies.
