In Baleshwar, Odisha, a B.Ed. Second Year student set fire to the college campus herself. The incident took place around 1 pm on Saturday afternoon. College principal Dilip Kumar Ghosh said on the incident- On June 30, I had a complaint against Sameer Kumar Sahu of HOD. Some students told that Sameer Kumar Sahu is harassing him.
A girl even said that the teacher had demanded a physical relationship near the garden. The same day the students surrounded and the police was called.
The principal said that on the demand of the students, we had formed an internal complaint committee. It had senior female teachers, representatives and some external members. The committee reported in 7 days. However, some students were demanding immediate action.
Today the girl came to meet me, I explained to her for 20 minutes, but she started saying that she could not wait anymore and left from here. About 15-20 minutes later it was discovered that he had set himself on fire.
HOD arrested, principal suspended
After the matter came to light, the police arrested Sameer Kumar Sahu of HOD. The Odisha government has suspended the college principal Ghosh with immediate effect for the serious negligence of the college administration. The order issued by the government states cannot leave the city without prior permission.
