Hindi controversy: CM Stalin has taken a big step in the midst of a ruckus on Hindi in Tamil Nadu. The state government has removed the rupee sign ‘₹’ in Hindi. It is being told that instead of the letter of Hindi, it has been replaced with the Tamil letter. This decision was taken at a time when Stalin is accusing him of imposing Hindi by implementing National Education Policy from Chennai to Delhi.
According to NDTV, the ‘rupee’ mark was replaced by the Tamil letter in the promotional material prepared by the Tamil Nadu government for the budget for 2025-26. It will be introduced in the assembly on Friday morning. However, nothing has been officially told about this.
Stalin has described NEP as saffron policy
Tamil Nadu CM Stalin has described the new education policy of the central government as ‘saffron policy’. He had said, ‘NEP is not a education policy, this is a saffron policy. Its purpose is not to develop India, but to develop Hindi. We oppose NEP because it will completely destroy the progress of Tamil Nadu in the education sector.
NEP does not accept social justice: Stalin
Stalin says that NEP does not accept reservation which is social justice. He alleges, ‘NEP refuses to give assistance to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes’. Targeting the BJP, Stalin said that in the last 10 years, the development of Tamil Nadu has been badly affected.
What is the latest controversy about NEP?
When the Tamil Nadu government refused to implement the major aspects of the new education policy, especially three language formulas, the central government banned the first installment of Rs 573 crore for the assistance given to the state under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). After which the Stalin is raging at the center. According to the rules related to the policy, it is mandatory for the states to implement NEP guidelines to get financial assistance for the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.
What is Tina language formula?
The three language formula proposed in NEP 2020 states that students should learn three languages, of which at least two should be the original language. This formula will be applicable to both government and private schools and allows states to choose languages without any pressure. It is clearly written that no language will be imposed on any state. Even students can choose some three languages to learn themselves, but two of these languages should be Indian.
