The Supreme Court has refused to give any order immediately on OBC 27 percent OBC reservation in government jobs and educational institutions in Madhya Pradesh. The court issued a notice to the state government, saying that it will listen to the new petition with the pending petitions.
Definitely said that 27 percent OBC reservation notification was issued in 2019 on behalf of the petitioner named Sonbirse, but so far the reservation remains 14 percent. In 2019, the High Court gave an interim order, but there is no restriction on the notification. The state government is not implementing the notification by making the legal advice of the Advocate General.
On June 25, the Supreme Court’s vacation bench sought a response from the Madhya Pradesh government. On Friday (July 4, 2025) Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told the court that many petitions on the same case are already pending. In such a situation, it is beyond comprehension why a new petition has been filed and how the petitioner is demanding the order without hearing the remaining petitions.
As soon as this information came out, the bench of Justice PS Narasimha and Justice R. Mahadevan postponed the hearing. The court associated the new petition with a pre -pending case. Now all matters will be heard simultaneously.
