Supreme court refused to stop release of film udaipur files as Demanded by Accused in Kanhaiya Lal Murder Case Ann

Supreme Court on Udaipur Files: The Supreme Court has refused to stop the release of the film ‘Udaipur Files’. Mohammad Javed, accused in Kanhaiyalal murder case, filed a petition. The petition said that the film’s performance may affect the case in the NIA court of Jaipur. Fair justice requires a ban on the release of the film.

The argument of the impact on the case
Mohammad Javed’s lawyer requested the bench of Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Joyamalya Bagchi to hear immediately. He said that the trailer of the film has been released on 4 July. Looking at him, it seems that the film has been made on the basis of the allegations of the side, if it is shown, the case in the lower court may be affected.

‘Let the film be released’
Both the judges of the bench discussed among themselves for a while. After that, Justice Dhulia refused to hear, saying, “You should raise the matter before the court concerned.” The lawyer said that the film is scheduled to release on Friday (July 11, 2025), so the hearing is necessary immediately. To this the judge said, “Let the film be released.”

What is the matter?
In June 2022, Kanhaiyalal, who did a tailor working in Udaipur, was brutally murdered. At that time there was a lot of controversy about a statement of Nupur Sharma about Prophet Mohammed. Kanhaiyalal shared the post supporting Nupur Sharma on social media. So Mohammad Riyaz and Mohammad Gaus killed him, alleged that many more people supported the murder. Javed, who filed a petition in the Supreme Court, is also one of them.

What was said in the petition?
Prior to Mohammad Javed, the Islamic organization ‘Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind’ has also filed a petition against it in different High Courts, calling the film a communal. Javed’s petition said that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given a certificate to the film. In such a situation, the court should ask the central government to intervene in the case using the power gained under Section 6 of the Cinematograph Act.
