The Supreme Court has refused to hear the petition challenging the results of the 2025 NEET UG (National Medical Entrance) Examination. A student had said that more than one option of a question asked in the examination was correct. The Supreme Court said that the student’s claim may be correct, but it would not be right to interfere in this way in the result of an All India exam.
Petitioner Shivam Gandhi Raina said that the result has been affected by considering his answer wrong. His All India rank is 6783 and General category rank is 3195. If the result is rectified, it will get 5 additional marks. This will make his ranking much better, but the bench of Justice PS Narasimha and Justice R. Mahadevan refused to consider it. The judges said that if he gives such an order then it will have a widespread result. This will affect the students of the entire country.
Senior advocate R Balasubramaniam, appearing for the petitioner, argued that in 2024 the Supreme Court had intervened in the result of NEET UG. Experts from IIT Delhi were sought information about the correct answer to some questions and the results were revised on the basis of that. On this, Justice Narasimha said that a large scale complaint was revealed about the examination, but here the matter is only about the complaint of one student.
