CLAT 2025: The Supreme Court has transferred all the cases related to CLAT (Common Law Admission Test) to be held for admission to LLB course. Cases were pending in three High Courts regarding this Common Entrance Test to be held for admission to different National Law University.
A bench of Supreme Court Chief Justice Sanjeev Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar and KV Vishwanathan ordered a hearing on March 3 in the Delhi High Court. With this hearing, the way of starting counseling for admission in LLB in all National Law University of the country will be opened.
Through the CLAT UG exam held in 2024, this year, 25 prestigious National Law University of the country is to be admitted. Apart from this, many big private colleges also give admission to students here only on the basis of CLAT results.
What is the matter?
A student named Aditya Singh filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, calling 5 questions of CLAT wrong. Justice Jyoti Singh of Delhi High Court ordered this petition on 20 December. He considered 2 out of 5 questions wrong and asked to release the result of CLAT again on the basis of it.
The Consortium of National Law Universities, who conducted the CLAT exam, first went against the Division Bench of the High Court. Later he approached the Supreme Court. He said that single judge did not need to play the role of examination expert. On the other hand, petitioner Aditya Singh also filed an appeal and emphasized on the wrong of 5 questions being wrong.
During the hearing in the Supreme Court, the Consortium of National Law Universities also said that apart from Delhi, petitions are pending in Punjab-Haryana and Rajasthan High Courts. Therefore, the Supreme Court should transfer all petitions to them. But the Supreme Court ordered that all the cases are being transferred to the Delhi High Court.
