BJP’s newly elected MLAs are preparing to choose the next Chief Minister of Delhi. Meanwhile, India Today has analyzed the ongoing discussion on possible candidates to replace the outgoing CM Atishi of the Aam Aadmi Party.
The name of his Chief Minister is expected to be declared by the BJP on February 19. Pravesh Verma, former Leader of Opposition Vijendra Gupta, MLA Rekha Gupta, Satish Upadhyay, Ashish Sood and Jitendra Mahajan are among the major contenders for this post in Delhi.
The analysis of social media handles and online searching shows that Pravesh Verma is a favorite candidate for the post of Chief Minister – he is second in search after Rekha Gupta.

Discussion on social media
Since the 8 February result of the Delhi Assembly elections, Pravesh Verma has the highest number of followers on social media. He is followed by more than 80,100 people on Instagram and about 17,800 people on X (East Twitter).
According to social media analytics firm Social Blade, MLA Rekha Gupta from Shalimar Bagh has added 632 followers on X and 975 followers on Instagram.
In Delhi, former opposition leader Vijendra Gupta added 416 followers on X during this period, while Satish Upadhyay added 477 followers on the platform. During our analysis, BJP leader Ashish Sood has added 420 followers on X and 1054 followers on Instagram. These numbers are not available for Jitendra Mahajan, because his presence on social media is less.
In the last seven days, Rekha Gupta has been the most discussed among the possible CMs of CM on X. According to analytics firm Tool Talkwocker, he was mentioned in more than 2,300 posts, while Pravesh Verma was mentioned in 1,600 posts.

According to the data, the name of Vijendra Gupta was discussed in 844 x post, Satish Upadhyay was discussed in 518 and Ashish Sood was discussed in 335 posts.
Online users search interest
Since 8 February, Internet users are searching about BJP leaders’ life, career, age and other information, about which they feel that they can be crowned as the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
If online users interest is a metric, Pravesh Verma and Rekha Gupta are the top contenders for the post of Chief Minister, although their interest fluctuations have also been seen over time.
For the next four days after February 8, Pravesh Verma was the most searched person among the Delhi BJP leaders on the Google search engine, followed by Rekha Gupta. However, in the last two days, search has also increased with Rekha Gupta.
BJP meeting on Wednesday
The BJP has defeated the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to return to power in the national capital after winning 48 seats. Sources told India Today that 15 names have been shortlisted and 9 will be selected for the posts of Chief Minister, State Cabinet Ministers and Speaker.
Talking to the media on Thursday, BJP national president JP Nadda said, “It will not be difficult to choose the CM of Delhi at all. It will be decided within 15 minutes in the party leadership meeting.”
The newly elected MLAs of BJP will meet on Wednesday, in which the Chief Minister will be selected. The swearing -in ceremony is a schedule for the next day i.e. 20 February.
