A diesel goods train going from Manali to Karnataka from Manali near Thiruvallur railway station in Tamil Nadu derailed. After this, it caught fire. Initially five bogies caught fire. The incident took place at 5.30 am on Sunday. There were 52 bogies in the goods train.

District Collector M Pratap said that 40 bogies have been separated from the burning train. At the same time, people living around the railway station were evacuated and taken to a safe place.

Fire brigade teams are also being called from nearby cities and districts. The fire has almost been controlled.
