Tamil Nadu Erode East by Election 2025 update; DMK AIADMK | BJP Congress | Tamil Nadu by-election- Voting continues on Erode East seat: Voting at 237 booths, 46 candidates in the fray; BJP boycott from election

Voting is going on from 7 am on the East East Assembly seat of Tamil Nadu. Polling is being held at 237 booths at 53 places.

Officials said that people did not come in large numbers when polling started due to cold. Later more voters are expected to arrive.

This seat was vacant due to the death of Congress MLA EVKS Alangovan in 2024. Elections are being held on this now.

A total of 46 candidates in the fray, BJP is not contesting elections A total of 46 candidates, including 44 independents, are in the fray, although the contest is between the ruling DMK and actor-royalty Seaman name Tamiller Kachi (NTK).

DMK has fielded former MLA VC Chandrakumar while MK Sitalakshmi is from NTK. The main opposition party AIMDMK and the BJP have boycotted the by -elections. They are not contesting elections.

The Erode East section has a total of 2,27,546 voters. Officials said that 9 booths have been declared sensitive and additional security has been deployed there.
