The Asia Cup cricket tournament 2025 is clouded by crisis. The tournament was hosted by the Cricket Control Board of India (BCCI) and it was scheduled in September 2025. But the current situation is telling that the Asia Cup 2025 can also be canceled.
If the Asia Cup is canceled this year, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will suffer a huge financial loss. The PCB is expecting Rs 8.8 billion in the form of revenue from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in this financial year.

A source told the news agency PTI that the Pakistan Cricket Board has shown about US $ 25.9 million (about 7.7 billion rupees) in the budget in the budget. Apart from this, PCB is expected to earn Rs 1.16 billion from the Asia Cup and Rs 77 lakh from other international cricket tournaments.
How much damage to PCB when Asia Cup is canceled?
The source said, “This income from ICC and Asia Cup is very important for the financial health of Pakistan cricket.” That is, if there is no Asia Cup, then the Pakistan Cricket Board will suffer a loss of Rs 1.16 billion, due to which its financial condition will be poor.
The uncertainty about the date and venue of the Asia Cup increased when PCB and ACC chairman Mosin Naqvi did not attend the ICC meeting in Singapore and attended it online. Naqvi is currently the Home Minister of Pakistan. Although PCB CEO Sumair Ahmed went to the ICC meeting, he did not get positive response from BCCI, Cricket Sri Lanka and Afghanistan Cricket Board.
Will Naqvi insist heavy?
BCCI, Cricket Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Oman Cricket Board have made it clear that they will not send their representatives to the ACC meeting to be held in Dhaka on July 24. ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi wants the meeting to be held in Dhaka, so that the BCCI is unnecessarily pressurized. However, it is difficult to imagine a meeting without BCCI. In such a situation, the ACC chairman’s plan does not seem to be successful.

It is also clear from the discussions in the sideline during the ICC meeting that the Asia Cup 2025 is hardly in September. The tournament was being considered in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the tension between India and Pakistan after the Pahalgam terror attack, but the Taj incident has increased the suspense.
On the other hand, PCB has also included an estimate of Rs 2.5 billion from Pakistan Super League (PSL). Overall, the budget for the year 2025 of PCB is about 18.8 billion rupees.
