India vs England: Should India have spent a long spell from Jaspreet Bumrah in the third Test played at Lord’s? Fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeshe has surfaced to answer this question of Irfan Pathan.
Jasprit did not play the second Test against England under Bumrah Workload Management.
Highlights
- Comparison of Jaspreet Bumrah and Ben Stokes.
- Irfan Pathan raised questions on workload management.
- Fielding coach Ten Doeshe replied to Irfan.
Irfan Pathan gave the example of England captain Ben Stokes. Stokes threw a long spell in the last morning of the third Test and took the important wicket of KL Rahul, causing India’s innings to falter. Pathan also said that there should be no concern about Bumrah’s workload management as he had left the second Test in Edgbaston and took rest.
India’s fielding coach Ryan Ten Doeshe rejected the comparison saying that Bumrah is more effective in small spell. He said, ‘Ben was very impressive. On the fifth day, bowling that fast, as well as his batting and fielding was also fantastic. But we are not comparing our bowlers to others. We have our own strength. Jasprit performs best in small and sharp spells. Doeshe said on Thursday. ‘Some bowlers like (Mohammad) Siraj slowly come into color in his spell and reach the peak in their 7th, 8th, or 9th over. Not everyone is the same and we plan accordingly.
Earlier, Irfan Pathan reviewed India’s defeat on his YouTube channel and criticized the team management and Bumrah. He said, ‘Ben Stokes threw a long spell of 9.2 overs (fifth day). They batting, bowling and run-out. When they bowl, no one talks about their workload. Jasprit Bumrah threw five overs and was removed from bowling when Joe came to batting. This was the occasion when India had to pressurize. I think we were left behind here. You expect your best bowler to take advantage of the opportunity. It was a bit disappointing ‘
