KCR protest against Congress: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is preparing a big movement against the Congress government in Telangana. The party has made the ‘criminal negligence’ of the government on the major irrigation projects of the state. BRS President K.K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) will prepare a strategy meeting with top leaders today and prepare a blueprint for the movement.
In this meeting, emphasis will be laid on highlighting the ‘anti -farmer policies’ of the current government. The BRS alleges that two major irrigation projects have been hung at 90 percent. In this, the Palmuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation scheme was hung due to structural problems. Apart from this, the same happened with Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project. He told that the focal point projects of his movement will be the projects. The BRS alleges that these projects have been deliberately stalled due to political reasons, while it can irrigate millions of acres of land.
KCR Chief Minister A. Revanth will target Reddy
KCR Chief Minister A. Revanth will also target ‘silence’ on these important projects of Reddy. The BRS leadership claims that the Congress government is deliberately ignoring the schemes launched in the BRS period, causing damage to the farmers of Telangana. The issues of negligence in the repair of the Medigadda barrage and the issues of stopping funds for projects will also be raised prominently in this movement. The BRS says that this attitude of the government is a serious threat to the agricultural development of the state. BRS leaders have warned that if the government does not revive these projects, then a large -scale peasant movement will start across the state.
Kaleshwaram-Palamuru-Rangreddy Lift Irrigation Project
Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project launched during BRS rule is India’s largest and most ambitious multipurpose irrigation schemes. It was done to meet the irrigation of more than 18 lakh acres and drinking water and industrial needs with the help of a project designed to lift water from the Godavari river. Palamuru-Rangreddy Lift Irrigation Scheme is another major project launched by the BRS government to address drought-prone areas of Southern Telangana. Although most of the basis were prepared before the 2023 assembly elections, the new government removed the project on priority soon after coming to power.
