Khammam warengal national highway: A road accident occurred in the morning on Thursday (July 3, 2025) on the Khammam-Wrungal National Highway near Ellampeta Stage in Khammam district of Telangana, in which three people died alive and one is seriously injured. At around 4:30 am, two trucks collided face to face, causing a horrific fire.
In the accident, the drivers of both the vehicles and a sweeper were stuck in vehicles and could not be saved. According to the police, cement goods were loaded in one truck, the number TS 07 UA 1234), while the other was going from Warangal towards Khammam.
Traffic stalled on the highway for several hours
According to preliminary investigation, the negligence and high speed of the driver in the dark became the cause of the accident. The fire spread so fast that it was impossible to remove the trapped people. Police and fire brigade teams reached the spot and controlled the fire after nearly two hours of effort.
Circle Inspector Ramesh Kumar, who reached the spot, said that the fourth person who was an assistant to a truck jumped out at the time of collision, but was severely scorched. He was immediately rushed to Khammam Government District Hospital, where his condition remains critical. The burnt bodies have been sent for postmortem. After the accident, traffic came to a standstill for several hours on the highway, which was diverted through the old route.
10-10 lakh rupees announced to the families of the deceased
This accident has once again raised questions on the increasing negligence on national highways and lack of security measures. Local people said that there are frequent accidents due to road narrow in Ellampeta area. The police have continued trying to contact the family, although the identity of the bodies is challenging.
Telangana Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has expressed deep grief over the incident and announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of the deceased. Also, the state government has ordered a high -level inquiry into the accident.
