There is a place on our earth, where there is more space than the ground. There is no land in every direction from this point of the sea thousands of kilometers away. Point Neemo is the most remote place in the earth, where no sea creatures can thrive. Space Organizations send the satellite and space station here. In such a situation, we know about this mysterious place of Earth …
Point Neemo, located south of the Pacific Ocean, is 1,670 miles (2,668) kilometers from the neo close ground. It is considered the most inaccessible place in the earth. It is located on the point equator, international date line and the intersection of the 90th meridian West (where these three lines are found). No country has the right over this region.
It will take two weeks to reach the ground
The nearest land here is the DUC island of the Pitcarne Island Group in the north direction, Motu Ni of the Easter Island in the north-eastern direction and an Antarctica, a claim-ridden area of Antarctica in the south, is located on the banks of Mary Bird Land. However, there is no population in all three places.
To meet people, you have to go to Easter Island or 4 thousand kilometers from New Zealand, one of the most isolated places in the world, where only boat can be reached by boat. This journey will take more than two weeks.
Why is this point of inoxestibility?
Point Neemo is called the point of inoxestibility of the oceans. Point of inoxestibility i.e. the place from which any coastline or coastline is the farthest. On the map, it is the center point of that land. In every direction, this place is at the same distance of 2,688 kilometers from the nearest land. Other points of inoxestibility of the Earth is an ice of the Arctic Ocean in the north and an old research station of the Soviet Union in Antarctica in the south.
Location was taken out of software
Point Neemu was first discovered in 1992 by a Canadian survey engineer named HRVOJE Lukatela. He took the orbit of satellites and ground location from the ‘Digital Chart of the World’ of the US Defense Mapping Agency (now National Geospatial Intelligence Agency) and inserted it in a software and measured the exact location of the point.
Point is not named after fish
People often understand that it was named after Neemu fish, the main character of the famous Disney film Finding Neem, after listening to Point Neemo. But actually Neemu means ‘no man’ in Latin. Point Neemu is named after Captain Neem, author Jules Verne’s book 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
There is no creature
No sea creatures can thrive there due to very high pressure, very low temperature and sunlight not reaching the depth of point neemo. However, some bacteria and small crabs have been found in a volcanic vent (opening) at the sea level near Point Neemu.
International space station is closer to land
Where the closest land from Point Neemu is also thousands of kilometers away, it is easier to reach space from here. International Space Station (ISS) is only 415 km from this point. He often passes over Point Neemo due to the ISS’s orbiting the earth.
Dumping ground of bad space satellites
The satellites present in the space are thrown in the point neemu only after the damage is done or the work is completed. Space organizations are similarly sent to space stations with the help of controlled landing. First, in the year 1971, the Soviet Union’s Salute 1 spacecraft was thrown. Since then, more than 250 satellite points such as Mir Space Station, Skylab Space Station, Space-X rocket and Beagle 2 Mars Lander have been thrown in Neemo. Between 2028 and 2030, ISS will also be removed from space.
First person to reach point
On 20 March 2024, the British Explorer Chris Brown became the first person to reach Neemu. His team started his mission from Chili country. He also shared pictures of it on Instagram.
