Imd weather update: The temperature in India is expected to be higher than normal from April to June and can run more days in Central and Eastern India as well as northwest plains. This was stated by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday (March 31, 2025).

IMD chief Mrityunjay Mahapatra said that the maximum temperature in most parts of the country except some areas of western and eastern India will be higher than normal. The temperature is likely to be normal in both these areas. Mahapatra said, “From April to June, most parts of North and Eastern India, Central India and North-West India’s plains are likely to run two to four days more than normal.” Usually, India is used for four to seven days from April to June.

Possibility of higher temperature than normal

He said that the minimum temperature in most areas is also likely to be higher than normal. An IMD official had earlier said that the number of heat days during summer in northwest India can double. During the summer season in this area, the heat is usually five to six days.

Lu will run in these states

The states where there are expected of heat -troops for more than normal include Rajasthan, Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and the northern parts of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.

In April, most parts of India are expected to be higher than normal. However, temperatures may be normal in some areas of far southern and northwest areas. Mahapatra said that the minimum temperature in most parts of the country would be higher than normal, except in some places in northwest and northeast, where the temperature can be normal or slightly lower than normal.

Electricity consumption will increase

Experts have said that India should be prepared for an increase of 9 to 10 percent in the demand for electricity in the summer season this year. Last year, the maximum demand for electricity across the country crossed 250 GW on 30 May, which was 6.3 percent more than the estimates made earlier. Climate change is one of the major factors that increase electricity demand.
