Indigenous AK203 rifle is being prepared with the help of Russia at Korba plant in Amethi, UP. About 6 lakh rifles are being prepared for the Indian Army in this plant.
Of these, 48 thousand have been supplied to the army so far. 70 thousand has to be given by the end of this year. Currently, 50 percent of the indigenous material in this rifle is. In December 2025, when 100 percent indigenous material is used, it will be known as ‘Sher’. By 2032, AK will reach AK 203 in the hands of Indian soldiers instead of the unseen Rifle which has been completely old. That is, a rifle, the best rifle.
PM Modi and Putin inaugurated
In 2019, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated a common plant in UP’s Korwa (Amethi) for the construction of AK-203 Assault Rifle under Make in India. For this, both countries had signed an agreement of 5200 crores. The Indian Army had to give an order for 72-72 thousand sig-sor rifles twice from the US in a hurry due to a clash of the Galwan Valley in the year 2020 and the dispute that launched from China in East Ladakh. In the year 2024, once again the rifle construction gained momentum and the army was sent to the army.
India and Russia for the first time set up private limited company
For the construction of the AK-203 rifle, India and Russia formed a private limited company for the first time, which has been named Indo Russian Rifles Private Limited (IRRPL). The special thing is that for the first time in the history of the country, such a private company was formed whose command was handed over to a senior army officer. At present, Major General SK Sharma of the Indian Army is the managing director and CEO of IRRPL. The Ministry of Defense has a major shares in the IRRPL company.
In a special conversation with ABP News, Major General Sharma claimed that the army will be delivered to all six lakh rifles by December 2030, ie 22 months ahead of the scheduled time. According to General Sharma, under Make for the World, AK-203 will also be exported to friends and country. Apart from this, the goal is to manufacture the second rifle of the AK series in the coming time. Also, UBGL Grenade Launcher will also be made. Also, Korba plant is to be included in the world’s top five (5) company.
Kerala police released tender to buy AK-203
Apart from the army, there has been a competition to buy AK-203 in the police and central police forces of the states. Recently, Kerala Police has issued a tender to buy AK-203. The current Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi also played an important role in making one-203 in India. As the DG of the Directorate General of Infantry of the Indian Army, General Dwivedi went to Russia for initial talks and prepared Russia to transfer technology of the most modern and advanced version of the AK series. The way AK-47 is the gun of the 1947 model, AK-203 is the version of 2019.
The Korba plant aims to construct 70 thousand rifles every year (600 per day). By the end of this year, the army is expected to get 70 thousand rifles. After this, all AK-203 rifles will be completely indigenous. The plant currently works in the plant, 12 of which are Russians. A total of 3 Russian, including CFO, are among the company’s boorad of directors. The remaining 90 percent of the local Amethi are from Amethi.
700 round firing in AK-203 to one minute
This plant itself has firing range and quality control lab. During this, a female employee demonstrated firing. AK-203 is a very light gun. Its weight is just 3.6 kg. This is a 7.62x .39 mm rifle, which is about 800 meters of range. AK-203 can fire 700 rounds in a minute.
During the firing drill in this plant, such an AK-203 rifle was also shown, which have fired 15,000 rounds, that is, she has completed her life. Despite this, it is working completely. According to officials, AK-203 can fire about 40 thousand rounds.
