From June 20, Team India has to play a 5 -match Test series against England. According to reports, the upcoming Test series will be played for a new trophy, named after two cricket giants, Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson. The five -match series will start in Headingley from June 20.
Let us know that the Pataudi Trophy was first started in 2007 to commemorate the completion of 75 years of Test cricket between India and England. The trophy was named after the Pataudi family, which gave Indian cricket two captains – Iftikhar Ali Khan Pataudi and Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
However, this time the series will not be played in the name of Pataudi Trophy. Instead, it will be played for the recently launched Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, honoring two great players such as Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson, who defined an era of cricket rivalry.

Gavaskar expressed resentment
Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar has expressed displeasure over the report of the England Cricket Board (ECB) that the Pataudi Trophy can be removed. He wrote in his sportstar column, “Recently news has come that ECB is going to remove the Pataudi Trophy to be given to the winners of the Test series played between England and India, this is really a disturbing news. This is the first time that the trophy named after the individual players is being removed, although it is probably fully ECB’s decision and the BCCI will probably be a decision. Ki reflects insensitivity to the contribution to cricket in England and India. “

Sachin Tendulkar, who played 200 Tests from 1989 to 2013, is the highest run -scorer in Test cricket (15,921 runs). James Anderson is England’s all -time leading wicket -taking bowler and is the most successful fast bowler of Test cricket (704 wickets).
Both these great players were face to face in 14 Tests, in which Anderson dismissed Tendulkar nine times.
The move to change the name of the trophy is like a recent step taken by England and New Zealand, who launched the Crow-Thorp Trophy last year, named after Martin Crow and Graham Thorp. England won the series 2–1.
