The person claims to demand bribe in GST registration, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman herself responded

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Saturday (31 May 2025) that serving taxpayers is the duty of the department officials and they should do this work with transparency and honesty. The Finance Minister posted on the social media platform X and said, "It is our duty to serve taxpayers. Transparency and honesty are very important to win taxpayers, their trust and trust. I am confident that the board and regional structures will remain sensitive and responsible."

CBIC gave the answer to the viral post

His statement was given in response to the detailed explanation given by the Central Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) in the case of a commercial unit applying for GST registration. The applicant had complained of delay in the application process. The CBIC presented a detailed explanation behind the pending of the case as an answer.

CBIC stated the reason that this is being delayed due to lack of answers to the special question asked by the taxpayer company. Citing the fact of Vinod Gupta, who wrote about GST registration issue on LinkedIn, CBIC said on X, "The application was filed on 26 May (Monday) this week, which was submitted to Delhi State GST. Central GST officers had no role in this matter."

Further stated in the statement, "According to Delhi State GST officials, the matter was immediately worked and a question was raised by the company about the missing digging of the person signing the rent agreement. At this stage, the ARN taxpayer was pending due to the reply and the taxpayer was informed about it."

The statement told that on receiving pending information, Delhi GST officials will take action on the application. The CBIC has also requested the applicant not to broadcast the wrong information on social media without knowing the facts.
