After successfully returning to Earth from the AX-4 Space Mission, Indian Air Force Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla spoke to the media for the first time and after microbiology, openly mentioned the unique challenges of re-symbolizing the Earth’s gravity.
Shubhanshu Shukla said that for the first time when we came out of the earth, we realized how important gravity is. When the gravity ends in space, it takes time for the body to get into the environment with that zero gravity and when you return, then you have to go through the same process again.
He smiled and told that when he asked for his phone after landing, he was surprised as soon as he caught him, because after returning from the space, the phone also started to look heavy. This experience is a proof of how the body in space becomes accustomed to feel lighter.
‘We became normal in three to four days’
Shubhanshu said that after returning to earth, one has to learn to make the body in balance and handle its weight. For this, there is a special rehabilitation program, in which the body’s strength, balance and coordination are gradually developed. He told that we had become normal in three to four days.
Telling the laptop dropping
During this, he also shared an interesting anecdote. Shubhanshu said that I suddenly left my laptop and thought that he would float in the air, but he fell on the ground.
Many experiments were done in zero gravity
Sharing his experience during this mission, Shubhanshu said that he did many experiments in zero gravity at the space station. He said that everything keeps floating and successfully completing the experiments in those circumstances is a big challenge. Some experiments were getting clear results in space, which were quite inspiring.
‘Ready for next space trip’
Scientific data and samples which have been collected during this mission have been sent to research institutes of India. Shubhanshu said that soon he will discuss these scientific results in detail. At the end of the conversation, he confidently said that now I am feeling completely normal and ready for the next space trip. His confidence indicates the new heights of India’s human space mission.
