The water level of Ganga and Yamuna rivers is increasing rapidly in Sangam city Prayagraj. Due to continuous rains and release of water from dams, the water level in rivers is increasing rapidly. In the last 24 hours, the water level of the Ganges river has increased by 11 cm in Phaphamau and 9 cm in Chhatnag. At the same time, the water level of Yamuna river has registered a growth of 9 cm in Naini.
The water level of the Ganges was 79.31 meters in Phaphamau at 8 am and 78.25 meters in Chhatnag. At the same time, the water level of Yamuna river in Naini has been recorded at 78.78 meters. Although both rivers are currently flowing about 5 meters below the danger mark, their rising water level remains a matter of concern.
The bathing ghats in the Sangam area have been submerged and the flood water has moved towards the Bakshi dam. Due to the rise in the water level, the driver, shopkeepers, people living at the ghat and pilgrim priests have gone towards safe places. The Danger level of Ganga and Yamuna rivers in Sangam is 84.734 meters.

The monitoring of both rivers continues for 24 hours from the control room of the irrigation department. Also, water police and SDRF have been deployed in the Sangam area so that any emergency can be dealt with. A total of 88 flood posts built in the district have also been kept on alert. The officials have advised the public to be vigilant and go to safe places due to the rising water level.
The flood situation in the Sangam city is being seen seriously and efforts for effective control are going on through continuous monitoring.
