The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken an important step towards radical change in the Indian educational system. The instructions issued by the Secretary of the Commission have appealed to all universities and affiliated colleges to make immediate and comprehensive changes in their educational curriculum.
The basic objective of this directive issued by the UGC is to establish rapport with rapidly changing technical and ideological thinking. For this, the Commission has specifically highlighted the importance of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Under the NEP 2020, it has been advocated to maintain education in accordance with the needs of the overall, flexible and 21st century.

Students will get better education with this change
The National Education Policy 2020 has focused on thinking deeply away from Ratant Vidya, encouraging creativity and multi-disciplinary teaching. Accordingly, the UGC has requested to give priority to amend the syllabus so that education can be made relevant and responsible. Under this, it has been suggested to integrate skill development, apprenticeship and internship in academic models.
A letter written to the Vice Chancellors of Universities
The letter written by the UGC Secretary to the Vice Chancellors of all recognized universities of the country clearly explained the importance of change in the course and its possible impact. This letter also states why it is necessary to make the teaching method more dynamic and implementable on the basis of policy documents.
