During the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and Varanasi, where the working people were earning crores from employment, the thieves and raised also took advantage of this crowd. This was revealed when a joint team of GRP and RPF caught a vicious thief with 90 expensive Android phones at Varanasi Cantt railway station. The price of these stolen phones has been estimated at around 60 lakh rupees.

Varanasi Cantt GRP police station in -charge Hemant Kumar said that Ravi Kumar alias Golu, a resident of Maharajganj in Bihar, was caught during checking at the railway station. 90 expensive mobiles and 1950 rupees in cash were recovered from this young man caught in suspicious condition. During interrogation, he confessed that these phones were stolen from Prayagraj and Varanasi.

The police officer said that the recovered mobiles are being imposed on surveillance so that their real owners can be detected. Intensive interrogation of the accused is going on so that it can be known whether there is a big gang behind him.

Police believe that such theft incidents during Mahakumbh will have been carried out in an organized manner.

The police is now investigating whether it was a part of a big conspiracy to target the people who came to Mahakumbh.

This case has become more serious due to the price of the recovered phone being 60 lakh rupees. The administration has indicated the security system and hardening in the fair.
