The central government has taken a revolutionary step towards making toll payments simple, accessible and economical in the country. Fastag based annual pass scheme will be launched from 15 August 2025, which will cost ₹ 3,000. This scheme will be applied especially for private four wheelers (cars, jeep, vans). However, after the announcement of this plan, many types of questions are arising in the minds of the people. Removing all these, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari has released a video, in which he has given information about this scheme in detail.
Gadkari clarified that this scheme will be applicable only to the National Highway (NH), not the roads of the state governments (expressway etc.). He said, “This decision taken by the government will be able to travel on a very large scale. Earlier people had to pay a toll of at least Rs 10,000. Now the price of the new pass is only 3000 rupees, which gives a validity of 200 trips annually. A trip means to cross a toll. Will be. ”
He said that with the introduction of our new system, the need to stay at the toll plaza will be over. Those who used to stay earlier will get the benefit of this scheme. The scheme applies only to national highways and will start from August 15. The annual pass will be applicable only to non-commercial private vehicles like cars, jeeps and vans. This will allow a uninterrupted journey on the national highway without repeated recharge of the fastag card or without the need for toll payment.

Main things from Gadkari’s statement
7,000 rupees savings: According to Gadkari, usually if a person crosses 200 tolls a year, then more than ₹ 10,000 has to be paid. With this scheme, this spending will be reduced to ₹ 3,000, which will save a direct savings of around ₹ 7,000 annually.
Average cost per toll just ₹ 15: He said that now on many tolls, you have to pay ₹ 50, ₹ 80 or ₹ 100, but the average cost per toll under this pass will be only ₹ 15.
Toll crossing without stopping vehicle: The Union Minister said that there will be no need to stay at the toll plaza in the coming time. With the new technology, tolls will be crossed without stopping, which will save both traffic and time.
State will not apply on roads: Gadkari made it clear that this scheme will only apply to the national highways as he comes under the jurisdiction of the central government.
