In Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a case of triple talaq has come up through messages. After harassing for dowry, a case has been registered against a person and his family members for illegally giving three divorces to his wife on WhatsApp. Officials have given this information on Monday. A senior official said that the incident took place in Basera village.
Circle Officer (CO) Ravi Shankar said that an FIR was lodged by the victim Asma on Sunday on the basis of a complaint lodged against her husband Hasan, mother -in -law Rashida and two brothers and Shakir. According to the complaint, Asma married Hasan in November 2017. She alleged that she was constantly harassed for dowry and later she went to live with her parents.
She claimed that on 31 March 2025, her husband allegedly sent her a message illegally on WhatsApp, giving three divorces. A case has been registered under sections of Dowry Prohibition Act and Muslim Women (Protection of Marriage Rights) Act, 2019. The CO said that the police is searching for the accused. Under this law, immediate triple talaq has been banned.
