Op akhal: An encounter between security forces and militants took place on Friday (August 1) in Akhhal area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir, killing a terrorist. Chinar Corps confirmed this on Saturday morning. The encounter was part of the joint operation of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, CRPF and Special Campaign Group (SOG), which is still going on.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps posted on the X (East Twitter) and said, “Operation Akhl, Kulgam: Intensive and intense firing continued throughout the night. Vigilant soldiers took a balanced retaliation and tightened the terrorists.” Chinar Corps of the Indian Army said that 2 to 3 terrorists and hide can be hidden in the area. The army fears this and the search is on.
Firing of terrorists during siege
Joint operation of security forces against terrorists is going on in the forest area of Kulgam district of South Kashmir. Chinar Corps has informed that a joint team of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) started a search operation in the area late Friday evening based on intelligence input. During the operation, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately when the security forces laid siege on the basis of suspicious movement in the forest area. In retaliation, the security forces took a front and killed a terrorist. The terrorist killed has not been identified yet.
2-3 terrorists can still be present in the area
The army has expressed apprehension that two to three terrorists may still hide at the encounter site, which is likely to include Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists. The terrorists are constantly being intermittent firing, which has increased the sensitivity of the operation. The security forces have strengthened the area’s siege to make the operation more effective and additional security forces have been sent to the spot.
