Australia’s Batter Travis Head set a record in the World Test Championship
New Delhi. Australia’s star batsman Travis Head overturned the entire match against the West Indies by scoring half century in both innings. He played a strong innings for the team caught in trouble and Australia won the match with the host. The first Test match was played between the two countries from 25 to 27 June at Kensington Oval, Barbados. After being all out for 180 runs in the first innings, scored 310 runs in the second innings and set a huge target of 301 runs in front of the West Indies. The hosts, who took a 10 -run lead by scoring 190 runs in the first innings, were reduced to just 141 runs in the second innings. In the series opener, Australia won by 159 runs, Head received the Player of the Match (POTM) Award.
Travis Head scored the highest 59 runs for Australia.
Head won his first Player of the Match Award during the Australia-New Zealand Test at WTC. The match was played at Melbourne Cricket Ground from 26 to 29 December 2019. In that match, this left -handed batsman from South Africa scored 114 runs in the first innings and 28 runs in the second innings. His second POTM Award was against England in the first Test of the 2021-22 Ashes series which was played in Gaba, Brisbane. He scored 152 runs in 148 balls in the first innings, with the team of Pat Cummins win by 9 wickets.
In the final of WTC 2023, which was played against India at the Oval, the Head scored 159 runs in the first innings and won his sixth POTM Award. His next three POTM Awards were against the West Indies in January 2024, against India in December 2024, and against India in December 2024 (Brisbane) against India. The list of players winning the highest POTM award in WTC is Ben Stokes and Joe Root of England. Both have won 5-5 POTM Awards for England in WTC.
