Congress MP Shashi Tharoor expressed deep condolences on the stampede on Saturday (September 28, 2025) in Karur, Tamil Nadu on Saturday (27 September). So far, 40 people have died in a stampede that took place in the rally of actor -turned -actor TV chief Vijay.
Reacting to this horrific accident, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that such terrible accidents expose the shortcomings of crowd management in the country. He also said that it is very painful to happen again and again. Meanwhile, he referred to the stampede of Bengaluru, in which 11 people lost their lives.

Congress Lok Sabha MP from Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor, appealed to the Center and all the state governments to implement very strict rules for large events and congested places, so that people do not have to face pain and pain of losing their loved ones in such horrific stamin.
He said, ‘This is a very sad and painful situation. There is something wrong with the crowd management in our country. Every year some such incident comes to light. We remember the incident of Bengaluru. When we hear about the death of children in the fifths, it is a heart -breaking thing.
There should be certain rules, standard and protocols fixed- Tharoor
Shashi Tharoor said, ‘The issue for me is only what we can do in the policies systematic for the safety of common people at the national level. People go to listen to any politician who is a film star, or go to see cricketers, who are also stars for us. But the main thing is that certain rules, standard and protocols should be fixed.
