Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated PBKS (Punjab Kings) by 6 runs to win the 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The next day of the title victory, i.e. June 4 (Budhwara), the Victory Parade of RCB was held in Bengaluru. But during this time an unpleasant incident occurred outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and 11 fans died in a stampede.
Two KSCA officers resign
After this accident, an FIR was lodged against RCB, Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and event management firm DNA Entertainment Networks. After the FIR was registered, KSCA and RCB had approached the High Court. On the other hand, the Karnataka High Court also issued a notice to the Government of Karnataka and sought a report of the whole situation. The next hearing in the High Court case will be held on 10 June.

Now a new twist is seen coming in this matter. Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary A Shankar and Treasurer ES Jairam have announced their resignation. Both have left their post taking moral responsibility.
The statement said, ‘We want to inform that in the last two days, our role was very limited in the unexpected and unfortunate incidents that took place. But taking moral responsibility, we have resigned from our respective posts last night (06.06.2025). We have handed over the letter of resignation to the President of Karnataka State Cricket Association.

Four people, including RCB’s marketing head Nikhil Sosale, were arrested by the Karnataka police in the stampede case. Apart from Sosh, Sunil Mathew, Sumant and Kiran Kumar of DNA Entertainment Private Limited were also arrested. Sosale filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court, calling his arrest illegal. Sosale appealed to the court that his arrest is a violation of fundamental rights and this is a result of a political pressure.
What did KSCA and RCB say?
KSCA had completely separated himself from the program. The Sangh said in a statement that the state government had taken the decision of the honor ceremony of the winner RCB team and this program was organized in Vidhan Saudh. According to KSCA, neither he planned this ceremony nor organized it, nor played any administrative role. The Sangh blamed the government, RCB franchise and event organizers for this mismanagement.
At the same time, Royal Challengers Bangalore had said in this case that the law will be fully followed on his behalf. The franchise source had said in this whole case- We cannot comment on legal matters at this time, but will give full support in every process of the government and the court.
