The news of a painful accident has come out from Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh. On Sunday evening, two of the three children who went to bathe in a deep pit filled with rain water died due to drowning, while the third child is hospitalized in critical condition. This incident took place in Bans village of Bilsi police station area.

According to the report of the news agency, the police said that after the heavy rains on Sunday evening, a pit was flooded outside the village. In the same pit, 13 -year -old Navneet, 10 -year -old Bhubaneswar and 11 -year -old Amar went to bathe. While bathing, the three children suddenly went deep and started drowning. The local people immediately reached the spot after hearing the noise and took the three children out somehow and took them to the nearby Community Health Center.

Two brothers died due to drowning in a pit

On reaching the hospital, doctors declared Navneet and Bhubaneswar dead, while Amar has been referred to the district hospital due to his condition being critical. The police have sent both the bodies for postmortem.

Police officials said that this pit was filled with water due to rain and the villagers did not know its depth. This pit was open for a long time and it was neither filled nor safe by the administration.

Financial assistance to the relatives of the deceased

SDM Ripudaman Singh said that the families of children who lost their lives in this accident will be given financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He has also ordered that the matter should be investigated why this pit was not filled and why security arrangements were not made.

The incident indicates administrative negligence, where a small pit snatched away the lives of two innocent people. The villagers have demanded from the administration that the open pits should be filled or secured immediately to prevent such accidents in future.
