Odisha latest news: In Ganjam district of Odisha, police on Monday (June 23) claimed that two Dalits were cut, beaten and forced to walk on their knees and feed cattle. The incident took place on Sunday in Zahada in Kharigumma village of Dharakote police station area. After the alleged video of the incident went viral, there was widespread resentment in political and social circles.

However, the ‘PTI-language’ news agency could not confirm the authenticity of the video. Police said that 54 -year -old Babula Nayak of the victim Singipur and 42 -year -old Bulu Nayak were taking two cows and a calf to his village from Harior in Auto when a group of guards caught him in Kharigumma and accused him of smuggling cattle. Police said that the mob allegedly asked for Rs 30,000 from both. When the victims refused, they were assaulted and derogatory.

Half of the head of both of them was taken to the salon
A police officer said, “He was taken to a salon and half his head was shaved.” The officer said, “After this, he was forced to walk for more than a kilometer away from knees, feed cattle and drink drain water.” Ganjam Superintendent of Police Suwandu Kumar Patra said that the case has been registered and the police has taken a case and in this case.
