Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray will hold a joint rally in Mumbai today amidst the ongoing controversy over Hindi in Maharashtra. It is named ‘Vijay Rally’.
In fact, the Maharashtra government had given two orders related to making Hindi compulsory on 16 and 17 April this year. In protest, Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray announced a joint rally on 5 July.
Later on June 29, the government canceled both orders. Uddhav claimed that the government had to withdraw the decision due to opposition from opposition parties. He had also talked about holding the protest rally of July 5 as a Vijay rally.
After about 20 years, Uddhav Thackeray and his cousin Raj Thackeray will be seen on a platform. Raj Thackeray left the Shiv Sena in 2006 and formed a new party in the name of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).

- Updated guidelines were released after the dispute escalated. Students studying from class 1 to 5 in Marathi and English Medium can choose other Indian languages apart from Hindi as the third language.
- For this, the condition will be that at least 20 students of one class should choose another language other than Hindi. In such a situation, another language teacher will also be appointed in the school. If the number of students choosing second language is less than 20, then that language will be taught through online medium.

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray had said that the decision of the Mahayuti government is like declaring ‘Language Emergency’ in the state. The former Chief Minister said that his party does not oppose Hindi language, but is against imposing it in Maharashtra.
He said that by doing so, Mahayuti wants to ‘poison harmony’ among Marathi and Hindi speaking people for her politics. The Shiv Sena (UBT) will oppose the government’s decision until it is withdrawn.
Raj had said- the government knows what Maharashtra wants
On the other hand, Raj Thackeray said on 26 June that our party will take out a rally. The government should know what Maharashtra wants. Maharashtra should show its full strength. I will also talk to other political parties.
When Raj was asked if he would also invite the leaders of Shiv Sena (UBT), Thackeray said that all political parties would be contacted. Maharashtra is greater than any fight. The next day i.e. on 27 June, it was agreed to hold a joint rally in both parties.

Uddhav dominating Shiv Sena in 2005: By 2002, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav were handling the Shiv Sena. The party session was held in Mahabaleshwar in 2003. Balasaheb Thackeray told Raj- ‘Make Uddhav the executive president of the party. Raj asked, ‘What will happen to me and my people.’ By 2005, Uddhav started dominating the party. Their impact was visible in every decision of the party. Raj Thackeray did not like this.
The party session was held in Mahabaleshwar in 2003. Here Bala Saheb Thackeray told Raj to announce Uddhav as the party’s working president.

On 9 March 2006, Raj Thackeray announced his party ‘Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’ i.e. MNS. Raj described MNS as ‘Marathi Manus’s party’ and said- This party will rule Maharashtra.
