Ukraine’s President Wloadimir Jailonsky is in discussion about not only his military strategy but also his dress. Recently at the NATO Summit held in Hague, Netherlands, Jailonsky adopted a new look – she wore a black suit -jacket and shirt, but did not tie. This change has come at a time when he was criticized for his dress in his white house meeting with US President Donald Trump a few months ago.
During the Oval office meeting in February, there was a sharp debate between Jailonski and Trump. Brian Glenn, a reporter, questioned Jailonsky as to why he did not wear a suit while coming “in the country’s highest level office”. To this, Gelnsky replied, “I will wear a suit after the war is over, maybe like you, or perhaps better than that.”

Jailonsky dress on international tours was normal
American Vice President JD Vance, sitting next to Trump, was seen laughing at this question. Since the attack on Russia’s Ukraine in 2022, Jailonski has been seen in most military clothes – such as black or olively colored T -shirts, cargo pants and combat boots. This dress was chosen to show solidarity with Ukrainian soldiers. Jailonski appeared in the same manner even on many international tours.
The look was changed in the funeral of Pope Francis
During the funeral of Pope Francis in April, Jailonski wore a black field jacket and shirt, not a tie, during the funeral of Pope Francis. In this look, he also attended the dinner organized by Britain’s Prime Minister Kir Starmer in London and Dutch King in Hague.

Elle, the famous fashion magazine of the Ukrainian version, described this changed look of Jailonsky as “a new type of visual diplomacy”. This changed style is also being discussed on social media.
After the dispute with Trump, Jailonsky has tried to improve relations with America. Recently, there has been an agreement on critical minerals between the two countries, under which a joint investment fund has been set up for reconstruction of Ukraine.
