Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan: Union Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan has made a big announcement for farmers on Monday (June 30). Addressing the convocation ceremony of the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in Bareilly, the Union Agriculture Minister has said that science will no longer be limited to laboratories but will reach the farmers’ fields directly. He said that the government plans that 2,000 teams of scientists will be sent to every district of the country, which will inform farmers about new techniques advanced breeds and scientific farming.
He said, “Now research paper will not only be for books and seminars, but to change the lives of farmers and livestock. IVRI is not an ordinary institution, but it is a bridge of rural life animal husbandry tradition and scientific thinking of India. The research done here has given direction to not only India, but the whole world.”

The Union Agriculture Minister said, “India is an agricultural country, but it is incomplete without animal husbandry.” He insisted that research and modern technology related to animal husbandry should reach from village to village. He also said that more than 300 farmers across the country have done new agricultural experiments by themselves, which can be improved further with the help of scientists.

576 students were given degrees and 24 medals at IVRI’s convocation. On this occasion, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan while addressing the students said, “It is not only a degree but a big responsibility towards the country, society, farmers and cattle ranchers.” He told the students citing the views of Swami Vivekananda, you are not alone, you are the power of the nation. You will become what you think. “

At the ceremony, Shivraj Singh Chauhan also said that the country needs such scientists who are not only in laboratories, but are connected to the soil of the villages and understand the suffering and pain of the farmers. Addressing the students, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan gave a clear message that now the time has come to take scientific farming and animal husbandry on the ground and there will be farmers and cattle rearers at its center.
It is noteworthy that the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) was established in 1889 and is one of the oldest and reputed veterinary institutions in the country. The institute has achieved many major achievements in areas such as diagnostic vaccine development and breed improvement of animal diseases in the country. Especially it has played an important role in preparing advanced breeds of chickens and cow-buffaloes.
