Union Home Ministry Ordered to Maharashtra DGP: The Union Home Ministry has ordered the Maharashtra Chief Secretary, Director General of Police and other concerned agencies to take immediate and appropriate legal action against illegal immigrants who have entered Maharashtra in large numbers from Bangladesh and Myanmar. Taking cognizance of the demand of Shiv Sena deputy leader and former MP Rahul Ramesh Shewale to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take strict action against Bangladeshi infiltrators, the Union Home Ministry has issued the above instructions.
After the recent incident of attack on actor Saif Ali Khan by a Bangladeshi infiltrator, this order of the Union Home Ministry is likely to speed up the action against infiltrators. What has Shewale written in the letter?
Shewale wrote in his letter that according to the survey conducted by TISS, the number of infiltrators from Bangladesh and Myanmar is increasing rapidly in Mumbai. Due to this, law and order has deteriorated in many places and serious social and economic problems have arisen. Some politicians are promoting such infiltrators as vote banks. Due to these people coming to India illegally, the employment of the local people also seems to be getting affected.
‘Hindu population is declining in Mumbai’
Shewale wrote in the letter, “According to the 1961 census, the Hindu population in Mumbai was 88 percent. In the 2011 census, Hindu population has decreased to 66 percent. By 2051 this figure will reach 54 percent.” Rahul Shewale has expressed such apprehension in his letter.
