Union Minister Sukanto Majumdar Statement on Kolkata Case Targeted State Government

Kolkata law college case: BJP is an attacker on Mamta government after a gang rape of a law college student in West Bengal. BJP leader and Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar protested against the TMC government in Kolkata on Friday (June 27, 2025). He said that the incidents of alleged gang rape in RG Kar Medical and Law College have taken place inside educational institutions. If such incidents are happening inside educational institutions and you are unable to stop them, then it is a pathetic failure.

Majumdar further said that this is the failure of state administration and state Home Minister Mamata Banerjee and there is also a blot on educational institutions. Anyone will have to take responsibility for this. The issue is that you are unable to give safe environment in educational institutions. This is your failure and accept it. You have no right to remain in your post.

Government’s responsibility, give the right environment to students: Majumdar

The Union Minister also said that if you are unable to give the students a safe environment, then it is your big weakness and it will have to be accepted. Majumdar has demanded from the state government to take these matters seriously and take concrete steps to prevent such incidents as soon as possible. He says that the government will have to take a tough stand on education and student security, so that such incidents do not happen later. Students have every right to study without fear and it is the responsibility of the government to give them a safe environment.

What is the whole matter?

Recently two major incidents have come to light in Kolkata, in which the incident of alleged gang rape in RG Kar College and Law College has been revealed. These incidents have surprised the entire Kolkata. Students and their families are worried about security.
