Despite the prohibition of liquor in Bihar, the game of illegal liquor smuggling continues. In this sequence, Syedaraja police of Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh took a major action and seized illegal liquor worth Rs 70 lakh. This liquor was being sent from Punjab to Bihar.
Police had received information that a large amount of liquor was being taken to Bihar in a truck. On the basis of information, a checking operation was conducted on the UP-Bihar border. Meanwhile, the police stopped a suspected truck, after searching, 680 boxes were found under Putti’s sacks. The total amount of liquor seized is said to be around 6000 liters.
Truck driver arrested, search for smuggling network continues
The police have arrested the driver of the truck, who hails from Punjab. During interrogation, the driver confessed that he was going to supply this liquor in Bihar, where its price was more than one crore rupees. The police is now looking for other members of this smuggling network.
Strict vigil in view of the upcoming election
Chandauli Superintendent of Police Aditya Langhe said that in view of the upcoming elections, special vigilance is being taken on the UP-Bihar border. A intensive checking campaign will be conducted in the border areas to prevent drug trafficking. In recent times, many major actions have been taken by the Chandauli police, which will continue even further.
