Religious conversion in uttar pradesh: A big conspiracy has been revealed about conversion in Uttar Pradesh. The UP ATS has arrested the main accused Chhangur Baba alias Jalaluddin while busting an organized illegal conversion network. This network was not only operated by foreign funding, but was fixed to the rate of conversion based on castes. The investigation has revealed many shocking facts – such as brainwash, fake love, foreign trips, and luxury properties. The police has started investigating it as a serious matter related to national security and social harmony.
The kingpin of the conversion racket- Chhangur Baba aka Jalaluddin
According to the report of India Today, the ATS and STF team of the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested Jalaluddin from Utraula town in Balrampur district, who used to promote themselves as Haji Pir Jalaluddin. Investigation has revealed that he used to forcibly convert girls under an organized network.
Along with him, accused Neetu Rohra alias Nasreen has also been arrested. Other people whose names are in the FIR include Mehboob, Pinky Harijan, Hajira Shankar, Amen Rizvi (alleged journalist), Sagir.
Big game of foreign funding and bank transactions
According to investigative agencies, this network has got funding of more than Rs 100 crore, especially from Islamic and Gulf countries. The gang has more than 40 bank accounts, in which heavy transactions have been done. According to ADGP Amitabh Yash, Jalaluddin has traveled 40–50 times to Islamic countries and has also bought several properties in Balrampur. The accused bought assets like bungalows, luxury vehicles and showrooms within a year.
Brainwash, name change and caste based rate list
Investigation has revealed that Jalaluddin and Neetu Rohra brainwashed Mumbai residents Naveen Ghanshyam Rohra, his wife Neetu and daughter Samale and forced them to adopt Islam. After changing religion, he was named Jalaluddin, Nasreen and Sabiha. Gunja Gupta of Lucknow was implicated by accused Abu Ansari as Amit and then forcibly converted to Jalaluddin’s dargah. He was renamed Alina Ansari.
This gang had fixed the rates of conversion according to the castes:
For Brahmin/Kshatriya/Sardar Girls: ₹ 15–16 lakhs
For backward caste girls: ₹ 10–12 lakhs
For other castes: ₹ 8–10 Lakh
Threats, pressure and network across the country
The gang used to pressurize the poor and helpless to change religion. Due to non -acceptance of the matter, he was threatened with implication in the case. A case of illegal conversion (FIR no. 221/23) is also registered on Chhangur Baba and his relatives at Devegaon police station in Azamgarh. STF says that the network is accessible throughout India and international contacts are also coming in it. Investigation agencies are now engaged in opening every level layers of this network and more arrests are possible in the coming time.
