Two qawwali artists were killed in a road accident on the Bareilly-Pilibhit highway on Tuesday, while at least five others were seriously injured. The accident occurred in the Nawabganj police station area, when a roadways bus and a car collided. According to the police, the condition of the car had become so bad that it was completely damaged.
Nawabganj Circle Officer Harsh Modi said, ‘After receiving information about the accident, the police immediately reached the spot and with the help of nearby people, the injured were evacuated from the car and sent to Nawabganj Community Health Center (CHC). Seeing the critical condition of the injured, he was later referred to Bareilly District Hospital.
According to the police, the deceased have been identified as Qawwal Arshad Kamali and other members of his family. All these people were going to Gahulia (Pilibhit), when their car collided with the bus.
The car was riding seven people, Arshad Kamali, his father Shamim Bag, his brother Baiju Master, Waheed Bag Niazi and Javed (who were driving the car), Tabla Master Shah Rukh, Dholak Master Mohammad Akram and post Master Shorat Ali.
Police said that all the seven car riders were seriously injured. The doctors of Nawabganj CHC declared Shamim Bag (60 years) and Mohammad Akram (45 years) dead.
