The rising water level of Yamuna and Ken River in Banda, Uttar Pradesh has caused havoc. The Yamuna river is flowing two meters above the danger mark, while the water level of Kane River is also increasing rapidly. Flood water has entered many villages of Palani and Baberu tehsils, which has flooded hundreds of houses. People are somehow saving their lives by caming on the streets with their cattle and household items.
In fact, areas like Nari village, Shankar Purva, Panda Dev, Tara Dera and Bacha Dera of Palani tehsil are badly affected by floods. School and accessible toilets in Nari village have been completely submerged in water. The contact route of the village is submerged up to 40 feet. About 100 houses in the Dalit colony are submerged in water, many of which are on the verge of falling raw houses. People were seen rising at risk with goods on their heads.

When Aaj Tak’s team reached the spot, he found that despite the administrative claims, the victims have not received any help till now. People are pleading for relief and rehabilitation from the administration. Seeing the situation, DM J. Ribha reached Shankar Purva and distributed relief kits to the flood victims along with the revenue team and took stock of the shifting preparations.
DM said that 13 villages of Palani tehsil are in flood. Boats and steamers have been installed on the connectivity routes. The police is deployed and through continuous announcement, people are being appealed not to go to the river-poll. The Banda-Kanpur State Highway has been closed due to waterlogging. The water has touched the bridges and due to the strong current, the roads have been converted into rivers. At the same time, the administration has warned that no person should go on the banks of the river or on the bridge, otherwise there may be a danger of life.
