A 55 -year -old farmer died in a tragic incident on Thursday afternoon in Dudhwa buffer zone of Lakhimpur Kheri district of UP. Actually, a leopard attacked him and killed him. This incident happened when the farmer was harvesting in his field.
According to the report of the news agency, the deceased farmer has been identified as Nand Kishore Yadav. He was harvesting mustard crop in his field, when a leopard hidden in a nearby sugarcane field suddenly attacked him. According to forest department officials, the leopard grabbed Yadav’s neck and tried to drag him to the sugarcane field.
As soon as the farmer was attacked, other farmers working in the surrounding fields reached the spot after hearing their screams. He made a noise, showing courage and tried to drive away the leopard with sticks. The leopard fled from there due to the crowd and noise of farmers, but by then Nand Kishore Yadav was seriously injured.
On receiving information about the incident, Ranger Gajendra Bahadur Singh of the forest department reached the spot with his team. He started searching for leopards and inspected the surrounding area. Singh said that in view of the presence of leopards in the area, the villagers have been advised to be vigilant.
After the attack, the seriously injured farmer was rushed to the hospital, but the doctors declared him dead. Police and forest department team has sent the body for postmortem. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area after this incident.
The villagers have demanded the forest department to carry out a special campaign to increase patrolling in the area and catch the leopard. This is not the first incident when the leopard has attacked the Dudhwa buffer zone area. In the last few months, many incidents of attack on cattle and people by leopards have come to light.
