UP: Now cylinder will be checked in Maha Kumbh, action will be taken if any problem is found – UP govt makes cylinder checking mandatory in Maha Kumbh Mela area after 2 fire incidents lclnt

Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Department organized a special meeting on Tuesday to ensure the safety of devotees and Kalpavasis in the Sangam area during the Maha Kumbh Mela. In the meeting, it was decided to make checking of cylinders mandatory in the fair area. This decision was taken after two fire incidents at the Maha Kumbh Mela on Sunday and Monday.

When did the incidents occur?
On Monday, an incident of fire was reported near Kinnar Akhara in Sector-16. However, there was no casualty in this incident. On Sunday, a fire caused by a cylinder explosion engulfed 18 tents in Sector-19.

Strict instructions for cylinder checking
Representatives of the Food and Civil Supplies Department, Fire Brigade, LPG cylinder distributors and gas companies attended the meeting held on Tuesday.

What decisions were taken in the meeting?
Technical assistant will check the cylinders. If leakage is found in any cylinder, its supply will be stopped. Gas cylinder, pipe and regulator will be checked. If they are not as per the standard they will be changed. Apart from this, technical assistants have been deployed in the fair, who will take immediate action in case of any emergency. A maximum of 100 kg gas will be allowed in the fair area and strict action will be taken against misuse of domestic LPG cylinders or sale of illegal gas cylinders.

keep an eye on agencies
The government has assigned the responsibility to LPG distributors and officials to monitor the gas supply. Action will be taken against agencies for violation of rules.

Administration alert
The administration has become more alert after the fire incidents that occurred on Sunday and Monday. On Monday, seeing smoke rising near Kinnar Akhara in Sector-16 at around 9:30 am, the fire station personnel immediately informed the control room. However, before the fire brigade arrived, people extinguished the fire with water and sand.
