This proposal was given by Republican Representative Abul B.C. Khan introduced and Dug Thomas and Jona Wheeler supported it. This is the first time an American legislative body has taken such a tough stance on Bangladeshi situation.
Appeal to take strict steps from Trump administration
In this proposal, an appeal has been made to the Trump administration to take strict steps on the violence issued in Bangladesh. Especially the attacks against religious minorities and political personalities associated with Awami League have been said to stop. The proposal mentions the incidents of increasing attacks on Hindu, Buddhist and Christian communities, murder, arrest, havoc of homes and religious places.
Religious and cultural attacks by Islamic fundamentalists
The proposal has condemned the damage by Islamic fundamentalists to damage religious institutions, demolish buildings associated with the founder of Bangladesh and the attacks on cultural personalities and journalists. Along with this, serious concern has also been expressed over the attacks on police officers and the killing of government supporters. The proposal has demanded from the US to investigate these incidents and hold the interim government of Bangladesh responsible for these incidents.
