Bank fraud: In Hardoi district, a credit officer of the Shahabad branch of Bank of India was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. This action was taken on Friday (28 February) when the officer sought a bribe from a person in exchange for approval of a loan of Rs 5 lakh for his wife’s beauty parlor.
According to the CBI, the accused officer had demanded a bribe of Rs 10% i.e. Rs 50,000. This loan was to be taken under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Employment Scheme. The officer had clearly threatened that if the bribe is not given, he would reject the loan application. After receiving the complaint, the CBI started action and handed over the officer as soon as he handed over the bribe amount.
Accused will be tried in anti corruption court
The CBI team planned the accused taking a bribe of Rs 10,000. Soon after, he was arrested and now he will be produced in the Special CBI Court (Anti Corruption, Court No. 5) in Lucknow. Officials say that a thorough investigation into the matter is going on and there can be many important revelations further.
CBI action revealed corruption of banking sector
This action of the CBI has made it clear to what extent corruption is prevalent in the banking sector. Especially in those government schemes whose purpose is to help the unemployed is being taken advantage of unfair advantage from the corrupt. Under the Mukhyamantri Yuva Employment Scheme, the government provides subsidy on interest through banks to give loans to the youth, but corrupt officials are misusing this scheme.
